Daytime Radio broadcaster Richie B ends his contract with Mello FM

Veteran broadcaster Richard 'Richie B' Burgess ended his contract at Mello FM after two years. News broke last Friday that his stint with the station had come to an end due to a breakdown in prolonged contractual negotiations. The "stalemate" as described by Richie B himself involved, " a particular benefit that was included in my original contract was removed" and that, he thought was "unjustifiable."

"I wish to thank the management and staff with whom I worked, for the leverage and latitude that I was given to present in what was a new slot for me and for their help in making the programme as successful as it turned out to be" Richie B said in a release. With him board, Mello FM boasted one of, if not the best line up of Daytime broadcasters in entertainment that included Ron Muschette and Barry G from 6am - 6pm each week across the island.

The release also outlined the man behind the Jamaica Countdown Chart (JMC), successful run during his tenure at the station. The Mello Daybreak programme he hosted between 6am-10am weekly, from Monday to Friday has shown tremendous growth under his direction and gave the station it's biggest ever listener-ship in the prime time slot the release further stated and continued, as evidence, the most recent MRSL All Media Survey as well as, an increase in revenues to never before seen heights. "Imagine on one occasion we secured over JA$2.3 million in sponsorship for my three hour show broadcasting from Sam Sharpe Square! Those figures were unheard of, prior, in the Jamaican broadcasting industry." To the current practitioners I say - top that!" the popular host and Mcee said.

He expressed heartfelt thanks, "to numerous advertisers who demonstrated supreme
confidence in his creativity, style and vibe." Ardent fans for the "loyalty and bond that was developed." The 'Peeps in the streets" who have consistently kept (us) updated on traffic situations across the island and his family for continued love, devotion and motivation."

When asked about the future, "I will be dedicating a lot of time and giving a great deal of attention to my latest business venture, a wholesale liquor centre in Kingston. As for radio, "If there's a radio station with a good management structure, all island accessibility and technical competence, who needs, probably Jamaica's most exciting early morning show host on their team, I'm ready to commence dialogue" Richie B said.
