Queen Ifrica and Tony Rebel advocate for a healthy society

Dr. Dwayne West chairman of the JCHS, Queen Ifrica and Tony Rebel
Singjays Tony Rebel and Queen Ifrica added their voices and gave their approval to the Jamaica Coalition for a Healthy Society.

Their endorsements came at Wednesday's lunch of a DVD - Sex, Lies and Rights - a Seduction of Medicine, Law and Politics, which aims to counter what the Coalition says is an "aggressive promotion of various sexual rights, while simultaneously curtailing fundamental rights and freedoms."

The DVD addresses the dangers of repealing or amending Sections 76, 77 and 79 of the Offences Against the Person Act (Buggery Law).

Speaking to The Jamaica Observer following the launch at Palace Cineplex in Liguanea, St. Andrew, Tony Rebel noted, "I will always take a stand on these matters because it is my right.  I will not fall to bullying.  Like Bob Marley and Peter Tosh encouraged us in their music, we must get up and stand up for what we believe in, in order to save our families and country."

The sentiment was echoed by Queen Ifrica, who was criticised for her comments at the Grand Gala inside the National Stadium on August 6, regarding efforts to repeal the Buggery Law.  "It's about being human and just expressing what we believe is our right.  I just love what I see here this evening," she said.

The 'Coalition' has produced 200 copies of the DVD and hopes to distribute them to like-minded groups throughout Jamaica, the Caribbean, Singapore, Russia and Africa.

Music Gifts for Christmas

Dancing 101 is a collection of songs, crafted by Dancehall/Reggae recording artiste Shaka Pow to teach persons wanting to learn Jamaican dance moves.  Each song is a different move on a different beat and even recorded with some of the dance move creators themselves such as Sadiki on Chiney Wine, Splice and Dance Class and Samboni on the popular Rubba Bounce.

The 24 tracks Dancing 101 album is also a tribute to late dance Icons Bogle and Ice who created the Gully Creeper move that turn out to be the last he created before he was fatally shot. Dancing 101 the perfect gift this Christmas is for anyone who loves Jamaican music and has a special song for the season called Dancing Christmas featuring Sadiki.

Never old, it gets newer with age as it embodies 10 years of dance history, the perfect gift for collectors Jamaican music. The album is a body work compiled by Dr. Garth 'Shaka Pow' McDonald a medical practitioner who has served the island's pre-natal department for several years and make time to make his idea of capturing this aspect of the Jamaican musical heritage.

Roots/Reggae artiste Khalilah Rose makes Jus Jah Magazine November 2013 cover plus more

Khalilah Rose is the face on the cover of UK Jus Jah Magazine November issue. As she prepares for her 2014 'Zion Lullaby' tour, her first single 'Your Eyes' released July 2013 on indie label Khalilah Music LLC initially championed Irie Jam radio in New York, BBC Radio 2 with Jo Whiley, Irie FM Jamaica with Digital Chris as well as added to the C playlist at Sirius Music.

This roots/reggae dawta has already enjoyed a  hugely successful number one hit in Argentina on a collaboration with Turbulence entitled, 'Unite and be Strong.'  She is now set to release another single entitled, 'Weep Not' January 1st, 2014 produced by Earl Chinna Smith and Dean Fraser. The track shows off Khalilah's melodious vocal range she is known for on an easy bounce bass line, a familiar roots reggae drum pattern (the kind where the drum hits the rim of the snare) and plays off the keys shank.  On her mission, Khalilah sings the roots of King David 'Weep Not,' spreading the message "watch what you eat."  Look out for this one it is indeed another banger from Khalilah Rose.
