Juror Violates Court Order..Possible Mistrial for Buju Banton

A juror in the Buju Banton case allegedly violates court order which could lead to a mistrial.  It has been reported that the juror admitted to doing her own independent research online when she leaves court.  The juror (who shall remain nameless) is quoted as saying, "They give you the instructions not to go online and, you know, make an opinion.  I tried to follow that as close as possible.  I don't think what I found out would have changed how I thought."

Meanwhile, Banton's new lawyer, Chokwe Lumumba has said that a violation of these specific orders could lead to a mistrial, as well as, open the door for appeal.  He was quoted saying, "That inappropriate behaviour can certainly be basis for a new trial.  If that's the case, we certainly will pursue it.

Buju Banton returns to court October 29, 2012 for a sentencing hearing after losing his appeal and serving 10 years behind bars.

Sean Paul Erases Marley/Shaggy's 50 Million Recorded Youtube Views

International Dancehall/Reggae artiste Sean Paul scored a major milestone recently through the North American country's biggest video-sharing outlet and erased Reggae's legendary Bob Marley and platinum selling Reggae artiste Shaggy's, astounding recorded youtube views of 50 million for singles (No Woman No Cry) and (Angel) respectively.  Sean Paul's most viewed single entitled, "Got 2 Luv U" featuring American pop princess, Alexis Jordan hit a record 100 million views mark recently.

According to reports obtained from this is a good look for Sean Paul to whom as a result, became the first Jamaican artiste to reach such a milestone with one single as the lead track off his new album, Tomahawk Technique.

Overall this is also a good look for the controversial Dancehall Music genre, described as Jamaican street or underground music and criticized harshly from international organizations and individuals for its violent and sometimes homophobic lyrics, although the lyrical themes are more varied than simply dealing with slackness and violence.

Sean Paul's, 'She Doesn't Mind' single combined with the audio version, has been viewed over 150 million times on Youtube and now has over 95 million views to date since its unveiling 10 month ago on Atlantic Records' official channel.  Tomahawk Technique stands at number four on Billboard's albums chart.

Shaggy Positively Representing Jamaica.. A Likely Ambassador to the Country

Like an ambassador, International Reggae artiste Orville 'SHAGGY' Burrell continues to represent Jamaica positively wherever he goes.  Recently in New York the Boombastic, Fantastic artiste joined the CBS TV hosts on the programme "The Couch" to discuss his appearance on the first reggae concert, Sounds of Reggae slated for Wednesday, December 12, 2012 that will be held at the Barclays Center Arena in Brooklyn.  The event is set to showcase other performances by Reggae's Lovers Rock giants, Mr. Beres Hammond and Maxi Priest as well as Ali Campbell of UB40.  Like many of the first visitors to Barclays Center, Shaggy said he was really impressed with Brooklyn's new event space.

"I loved it, there's not a bad seat in the house," he said of the arena.  "As big as it is, you feel like your're in a small theatre.  It's wonderful.  Well-done."  For him, the Sounds of Reggae Concert is special for two reasons.

"We're a big West Indian community in Brooklyn, so we have to make our present felt," Shaggy said.  "and two, it's Jamaica's 50th anniversary...and that makes it even more special."

When asked about his position as an unofficial ambassador for Jamaica, Shaggy remained modest, while noting his pride in his roots.

"I think that anybody once they leave Jamaica, automatically become an ambassador for the flag of Jamaica.  It's a country that's so rich in culture," he said.  "We even have a bobsled team, and we ain't even got snow.  We do everything in extreme."

Cherine Anderson's "Haffi Come Back" Video in the Making

Sporting a new hair style and still relishing the proud feeling of being featured in the September issue of Vogue 'Italy' magazine, Jamaican singer and songstress Cherine Anderson places focus on the release of a new video for her "Haffi Come Back" track.  Produced by U.I.M. Records on the Collie Gyal rhythm, "Haffi Come Back," is said to have garnered 'strong support overseas' and has entered the NMT Top 10 Countdown in Atlanta, Georgia which is syndicated in Gambia and Kenya.

Like most video's released by this artiste, "Haffi Come Back" promises to be eye catching as the sexy, fierce, bold and confident Cherine Anderson known across the industry locally/internationally for her cat-like, teasing performances, puts it down.  Cherine and two female dancers excite with an energetic dance routine.

With another song (Eagles and Doves) hitting the New York Reggae Chart top spot and a debut album in the making, Ms. Anderson will certainly be busy throughout the rest of the year.  We certainly look forward to the release of her "Haffi Come Back" video and wish her well on the release of her first album.
