Pop/hip-Hop Music Dominates Jamaica Radio Airwaves

Music is music and people will gravitate to just about any song or beat that impacts/excites them.  However in a Reggae/Dancehall dominated country such as Jamaica, it is quite unusual to hear Pop music getting as much air time as Dancehall and Reggae.  While Ms. Rihanna's Caribbean descent could very much influence her popularity in Jamaica, the chick has proven that she is bad! No apologies Rih Rih dominates and so is her forbidden, former beau Chris Brown. From the reception Chris got when he visited Jamaica to perform last year, it's obvious Jamaicans cares little about Chris's mishap, "It is what it is, shit happens?"

And it is not by coincidence that Drake gets consistent airplay too, he shares the popularity among International Pop artistes whose music Jamaicans enjoy listening. Other Pop/Hip-Hop artistes includes Adele, this girl gets so much love as well as the boss himself, "Rick Ross", Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Justin Bieber, Carly Rae-Jepsen, Flo-rida and LMFAO to name a few.  Watch Rick Ross Day In Jamaica video that shows him rocking the house during a performance, the crowd that came out to see him among other interesting scoop...

Doza Medicine's New Video Pretty Lil Thing Out Now

Incarcerated for several months now, speculations as to whether or not former Gaza boss Vybz Kartel will be released from prison have mounted to an all time high.  While some loyal fans patiently await his return to the Dancehall scene, some have turn their attention to Kartel's proteges and are more appreciative and receptive to their music, hoping they maintain if/not build and surpass, the momentum the 'Worl Boss" created.  One such is Doza Medicine who claim, "Kartel the 'Teacha' say me a di 'Top Student' cause me lyrics and metaphors nuh normal." Good with both Popcaan and Tammy Lee, Doza heightens his chances of 'getting a piece of the pudding' by way of implementing a promotional campaign to generate awareness.

Doza's latest project is a new video for current single, "Pretty Lil Thing" on the Flexrich Record Label.  The video, shot and edited by Mikhail Williams has been uploaded to youtube and is expected to hit cable as early as next week (see video here:-)

Fans and well wishers can follow Doza Medicine on Facebook for first hand information on other projects in the pipeline.  Pretty Lil Thing, says Doza Medicine, is for "all di hot girls" so log on..

Drake Chris Brown Brawl Over Rihanna Forces NYC Club to Close its Doors
First, the New York City bar brawl at W.i.P. between R&B artist Chris Brown and rapper Drake sent NBA San Antonio Spurs star Tony Parker to the hospital and caused the NYPD to close the SoHo club. Now, the New York Postreports the nightclub will most likely be forced to close its doors for good.
The club has been slapped with 14 charges from the New York State Liquor Authority stemming from the fight (including one for failing to stop the brawl from escalating). The new sanctions from the liquor commission are not the first time the club has been hit with fines from New York State. In the past, the club has been charged for selling liquor to minors, and for a security guard selling weed to an undercover police officer.
"They’re absolutely in jeopardy of losing their licenses," Liquor Authority spokesman William Crowley told the Post. "They have a number of prior charges, too, so that comes into play when we’re looking at taking action."
In case you missed the accounts of the fateful evening, two men approached Brown's table at the club and asked him whether he had a problem with Drake, who also happened to be there, to which he replied he did not. Later, as Brown was leaving the club, five men blocked his way on the dance floor and started taking off their shirts, yelling and prompting a full blown bottle-throwing fight which left several injured. Brown, then, went to Twitter to rant about the incident, publishing – then removing – a photo of himself with a cut chin. His publicist said Brown and girlfriend Karrueche Tran were “brutally attacked.”
Now, in addition to being forced to deal with charges from the Liquor Authority, the club also faces a $20 million lawsuit from Tony Parker over the injuries he suffered as a result of the brawl. He suffered an injury to his cornea during the fight. His lawyers claim the club did not do enough to stop the fight, that they didn't have enough security working when the fight started, and that they should have never let the two stars who have notoriously feuded over Rihanna into the club at the same time.
With the 14 charges, coupled with the $20 million lawsuit, it would seem there is no way that the club will be able to recover from this incident. In this case, it would seem there is such a thing as bad press.
